Mideia (mother of Likymnios)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mideia ( ancient Greek Μίδεια or Midea Μιδέα ) is the mother of Likymnios in Greek mythology , whom she fathered with Elektryon . Since Elektryon was married to Anaxo , the daughter of Alcaios , Likymnios the Pindar was considered to be the bogus brother of Alcmene .

Mideia was the eponym of the city of Midea in the Argolis . Their origins from Phrygia , mentioned several times, are probably a late invention based on the similarity of their name to Midas , the name of several Phrygian kings.
