Mieko Kamimoto (2011)

Mieko Kamimoto ( Japanese 神 本 美 恵 子 , Kamimoto Mieko ; born January 22, 1948 in Asakura County , Fukuoka Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese politician ( DPJDFPKDP ) and was a member of the Sangiin , the upper house of the National Parliaments . Within the party, she belongs to the Akamatsu group .

Life

Kamimoto worked after studying at Fukuoka Kyōiku Daigaku as a teacher at elementary schools in Kanagawa and Fukuoka. In the 1990s she was a member of the Executive Committee ( shikkō-iinkai ) of the Japanese Teachers' Union ( Nikkyōsō ) in various functions .

In the 2001 Sangiin election , Kamimoto, as a candidate for the Democratic Party (DPJ), received 173,705 votes in the national proportional representation, the eighth highest percentage of votes on the list and was thus narrowly elected. In 2007 she was safely re-elected with 224,999,035 votes, number seven on the democratic list. In the Sangiin, Kamimoto was chairwoman of the accounting committee from 2009 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2012 ( Noda cabinet ) she was parliamentary state secretary in MEXT . In the 2013 election , she received 176,248 votes and reached fifth place on the list, which was enough for re-election despite the Democratic Party's historically weak performance in proportional representation with seven seats.

In March 2018, Kamimoto announced that it would no longer run for the 2019 election. The Nikkyōsō is to replace the former Sangiin deputies Shun'ichi Mizuoka , who until 2016 the Prefecture of Hyogo nominate represented, as its candidate in the proportional representation. Kamimoto did not participate in the merger of the Democratic Progressive Party, the successor party of the DPJ, with the Kibō no Tō to form the Democratic People's Party in May 2018 and instead joined the Constitutional Democratic Party of Yukio Edano .
