Mielikki

Mielikki is the goddess of the forest and the hunt in Finnish mythology . She is the wife of Tapio , god of the forest, and the mother of Nyyrikki and Tuulikki . Mielikki is believed to have contributed in large part to creating the bear . She also has healing abilities. There are clear analogies to the Diana myth.

In the Finnish national epic Kalevala , Lemminkäinen prayed to Mielikki and her husband and offered them gold and silver . This enabled him to later the elk from Hiisi catch. In a later part of the Kalevala, Mielikki was supposed to protect cattle grazing in the forest.
