Miguel Itzigsohn

Miguel Itzigsohn (born November 21, 1908 , † 1978 ) was an Argentine astronomer who was director of the Observatorio Astronómico of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata , the capital of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires , from 1955 to 1972 .

He specialized in celestial mechanics and astrometry , but also discovered a number of asteroids between 1948 and 1954 and devoted himself to the study of comets . The asteroid (1596) Itzigsohn is named after him.
