Miguel White

Miguel S. White (born October 9, 1909 , † August 30, 1942 ) was a Filipino track and field athlete of Filipino-American descent. He won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1936 Olympic Games .

Career

White competed in Berlin in 1936 over both hurdles (110 m and 400 m). On August 3, he won the third heat on the 400-meter course in 53.4 seconds, beating the Canadian John Loaring , who also advanced to the semi-finals as runner -up. In the semifinals on August 4th, White ran again for 53.4 seconds and thus finished second behind the American Glenn Hardin . The final was scheduled two and a half hours after the semi-finals, White ran 52.8 seconds, Hardin won ahead of Loaring.

On August 5th, White took on the 110-meter hurdles for the run, but did not reach the finish line after a fall. Miguel White was the only Filipino medalist in Berlin.

Miguel White had already won the 400-meter hurdles at the Far East Championships in 1934. He was 1.80 m tall, his competition weight was 68 kg.
