Michael Thomas "Mike" Burns (born September 14, 1970 in Marlborough , Massachusetts , USA ) is a former American national soccer player who played in defense . He was active until 2002.

He played at Hartwick College football from 1988 to 1991. In 1992 he was part of the US Olympic selection. In 1995 he played for a short time in Denmark at Viborg FF .

In the MLS ( Major League Soccer ) he played between 1996 and 2002 for the clubs New England Revolution (108 games / 3 goals), San José Earthquakes (18 games) and Kansas City Wizards (47 games).

He was a member of the World Cup squad in 1994 and 1998.

Between 1992 and 1998 he played 75 times for the US national team .
