Mike Deodato (born May 23, 1963 in Campina Grande , Brazil), actually Deodato Taumaturgo Borges Filho (alternative pseudonym : Mike Deodato Jr.) is a Brazilian comic artist .

Life and work

Deodato was born in 1963 as Deodato Taumaturgo Borges Filho in Campina Grande, Brazil. He took his stage name when he started working as a cartoonist for Brazilian magazines in the 1980s. In 1993 Deodato was able to gain a foothold on the American comic market when he was hired by Innovation Publishing to draw some fairy tale stories in the Beauty and the Beast series .

In 1994 he took on the task of draftsman for the traditional superhero series Wonder Woman , which was written by William Messner-Loebs at the time . Deodato's drawings, which particularly emphasized the female charms of the protagonist - a pugnacious Amazon living in the United States of the 20th century - played a decisive role in bringing the previously ailing series back on the road to commercial success.

After his run on Wonder Woman Deodato worked with Warren Ellis on at Marvel Comics appearing series The Mighy Thor before leaving for Image Comics drew the Glory series and Maximum Press. This was followed by work on the Marvel series Amazing Spider-Man , Avengers , Elektra , The Incredible Hulk , Thunderbolts , Tigra , Witches , X-Men and X-Men Unlimited , on the DC series Batman and Flash , on the ones in Chaos! appearing series Lady Death and Purgatori , as well as the Dark Horse series Star Wars Tales , Lady Death vs. Vampirella and Xena .

Deodato currently lives in João Pessoa , Brazil.
