Mike McCormack (2017)

Mike McCormack (born in London in 1965 ) is an Irish writer who writes short stories and novels. McCormack is best known for his third novel Solar Bones from 2016, which consists of a single sentence and has won several prestigious awards.

Life

Mike McCormack was born in London in 1965, but grew up in Louisburgh in Co Mayo in western Ireland. He graduated from the University of Ireland at Galway in 1990 with a degree in English literature and philosophy. His first publication was a volume of short stories ( Getting It In the Head , 1996), which was followed by his first novel, Crowe's Requiem, in 1998. By 2018 two more novels ( Notes from a Coma and Solar Bones ) as well as Forensic Songs, a second volume of short stories, were published.

McCormack lives in Galway and teaches at the university there. He is a member of Aosdána .
