Mike Peters (cartoonist)

Mike Bartley Peters (born October 9, 1943 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American comic artist , caricaturist and the inventor of the comic strip Mother Goose and Grimm .

Life

Peters studied art at Washington University which he graduated in 1965. In 1969 his mentor, Bill Mauldin, helped him get a job as a cartoonist for the Dayton Daily News . In 1981 Peters received the Pulitzer Prize in the caricature category . In 1984 the humorous newspaper comic strip Mother Goose and Grimm began to be published , which is about a little talking bull terrier named Grimm (" Grimmy "). Several series of books appeared and was printed in 800 newspapers. Peters continues to draw political cartoons as well.
