Mike Russell
Mike Russell (born June 3, 1969 in Middlesbrough ) is an English billiards player .
Russell is eleven times world champion and seven times vice world champion in English billiards . The world championship organized by the WPBSA has been held since 1870.
Career
After winning the English U16 championship, he turned pro at the age of 17 and won his first world championship in 1989 at the age of 20. Since then he has been the most successful player in his sport, alongside Geet Sethi from India and Peter Gilchrist (Singapore), and with eleven titles he is the sole record holder of the post-war era.
In 2009 and 2010 he competed in the World Cup for Qatar. He also worked as a coach in Asia for various national teams, including Thailand and Saudi Arabia.
