Guire Poulard

Guire Poulard (born January 6, 1942 in Delatte , Haiti , † December 9, 2018 in Port-au-Prince ) was a Haitian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Port-au-Prince .

Life

Guire Poulard received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince on June 25, 1972 from the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, François-Wolff Ligondé .

On February 25, 1988 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Jacmel . The Apostolic Nuncio in Haiti, Archbishop Paolo Romeo , donated him episcopal ordination on May 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Hinche , Léonard Pétion Laroche , and the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, François-Wolff Ligondé. On March 9, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Les Cayes . The appointment as Archbishop of Port-au-Prince took place on January 12, 2011. On March 26 of the same year the inauguration took place.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 7, 2017.

He died of pancreatic cancer in December 2018 in the Franz von Sales Hospital in Port-au-Prince.
