François-Wolff Ligondé

François-Wolff Ligondé (born January 17, 1928 in Les Cayes , † April 8, 2013 ) was Archbishop of Port-au-Prince .

Life

François-Wolff Ligondé attended a school run by the Orden Frères de l'Instruction Chrétienne (FIC) and the Collège Saint Martial and the Ecole Apostolique Notre-Dame . He was ordained a priest on July 11, 1954 by the auxiliary bishop of Port-au-Prince, Rémy Augustin SMM . In France, he studied theology at Angers University from 1954 to 1956 (1954–1956). From 1956 to 1964 Ligondé was a professor at the Collège Saint-Louis de Jérémie . In 1956 he graduated in civil law from the Law School of the Collège Saint-Louis de Jérémie . From 1964 to 1966 he completed a theological doctoral degree in Europe, mainly at the Swiss University of Friborg .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on August 20, 1966 Archbishop of Port-au-Prince. The Secretary for Extraordinary Duties of the Church, Antonio Samorè , ordained him episcopal on October 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Albert François Cousineau CSC , Archbishop ad personam and Bishop of Cap-Haïtien , and Rémy Augustin SMM, Coadjutor Bishop of Port-de-Paix .

On March 1, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
