The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Port-au- Prince ( Latin Archidioecesis Portus Principis ) is in Haiti located Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Port-au-Prince .

history

The Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince was on October 3, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. built from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo . On February 25, 1988, the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Jacmel .

On January 12, 2010, the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince was destroyed by an earthquake . The Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Joseph Serge Miot , died in the earthquake.
