The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cap-Haïtien ( Latin Archidioecesis capitis Haitiani ) is in Haiti located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Cap-Haïtien .

Cap-Haïtien Cathedral

history

The Archdiocese of Cap-Haïtien was on October 3, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. established as a diocese from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo . In 1972 the Diocese of Cap-Haïtien gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Hinche . On April 7, 1988, Pope John Paul II raised it to an archbishopric . In 1991, territories were assigned to establish the diocese of Fort-Liberté .

The suffragan dioceses Fort-Liberté , Hinche , Les Gonaïves and Port-de-Paix are assigned .
