The Bistum Les Gonaïves ( lat. : Dioecesis Gonayvesensis ) is in Haiti preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Gonaïves .

history

The diocese of Les Gonaïves was on October 3, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. built from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince as a suffragan . On April 20, 1972, the Diocese of Les Gonaïves gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Hinche . The diocese of Les Gonaïves was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cap-Haïtien on April 7, 1988 as a suffragan.
