Mikel Gaztañaga Etxeberria (born December 30, 1979 in Itsasondo ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Mikel Gaztañaga began his career in 1999 with the Spanish cycling team Kelme-Costa Blanca . After only a year he moved to Maia-MSS in Portugal .

From 2003 he drove for Cafes Baque , where he gained his first successes in smaller races. After a year at Catalunya-Angel Mir , he switched to Atom in 2006 . Here he celebrated his greatest successes to date. He won the two one-day races Tour de Vendée ( Coupe de France 2006 ) and Circuito del Getxo .

He is now the sporting director of the Spanish team Caja Rural .
