Podhůří microregion
The Podhůří microregion is an association of eleven municipalities, five of which are from Okres Semily ( Rovensko pod Troskami , Holenice , Tatobity , Veselá , Žernov ) and six from Okres Jičín ( Holín , Jinolice , Kněžnice , Libuň , Podůlší , Zámostí – Blata ) . The size is 7,525 hectares, on which 4,584 inhabitants live.
The microregion lies between Ještědskokozákovský hřbet and Jičínská pahorkatina . Podhůří forms a connection between Holín near Jičín and Tatobity on the southern part of Kozákov . The region also includes the attractive Prachovské skály area on the cadastre of the municipalities of Holín and Zámostí – Blata.
The lowest point is in the municipality of Holín at 278 meters above sea level, the highest points are the hills Přivýšina (463 meters above sea level) near Holín and Jinolice, Hrázka (452 meters above sea level) Libuň, Kámen (439 m above sea level) between Holenice and Rovenskopod Troskami. The Libuňka , Žehrovka , Cidlina and their tributaries flow through the region .
The region can be reached by road I / 35 Turnov - Jičín and / 284 Turnov - Lomnice nad Popelkou - Stará Paka . There are also the Turnov - Jičín and Jičín - Stará Paka railway connections.
The area is 26% forested. Agricultural use is poor, especially in the northern parts; A higher land use is only possible at Libuň, Kněžnice, Holín, and Jinolice.
In the region, which has hardly been destroyed by environmental influences, there are some hills, bodies of water and forests with many historical sights. The area is well developed for summer and winter tourism.
The communities are mostly small, with populations ranging from 87 to 1,254. The population density is 60.3 inhabitants per square kilometer, in some communities there is an unfavorable age structure (aging).
Many of the residents have to commute to their places of work, and there are few work opportunities in the locality.
Many of the municipalities have inadequate infrastructure, and in some municipalities even the drinking water supply and disposal is not secured. The ecologically sensible heat supply also leaves a lot to be desired.
