The Mil Mi-PSW ( Russian Миль Ми-ПСВ ) is an experimental helicopter of the Russian helicopter manufacturer Mil , who on in the Soviet Union developed combat helicopters Mi-24 is based. ПСВ stands for Перспективный скоростной вертолёт (Perspektiwny skorostnoi Wertoljot) - perspective high-speed helicopter.

History and construction

The Mi-PSW is a helicopter in tail rotor configuration with a five-blade main rotor, which is driven by two Klimow turbines WK-2500-01 , each with 1789 kW take-off power. In contrast to the tandem cockpit of the Mi-24, the Mi-PSW has an aerodynamically designed cockpit for only one pilot, the stub wings are missing the end plates.

With the high-speed helicopter , new rotor systems are to be tested, with the help of which the speed of the Mi-28N is to be increased by ten and that of the Mi-35M by 13 percent. A mock-up was exhibited at the MAKS aviation exhibition in 2015 . This was followed by flights by the Mi-PSW, during which the stub wings, usually mounted at the level of the rear cabin ceiling, had been removed.

In November 2016, the helicopter reached an unofficial record with a speed of 405 km / h. In April 2017, flight tests were carried out with new larger wings on the lower fuselage in front of the main landing gear.
