The milky Fadenschnecke ( Flabellina pellucida , Syn. : Coryphella pellucida ) is a screw from the subordination of the sea slugs .
Appearance
This snail has a slender body with long dorsal appendages in crimson color and with white tips, the body itself is milky white. The four centimeter long animal has a pair of smooth head antennae and mouth tentacles , the foot ends in two points at the front edge.
With its crimson-red appendages with white tips, it is reminiscent of the violet thread snail , with which it was also placed in the genus Coryphella by some systematics . However, the runners are smaller and less dense.
distribution
The milky thread snail lives on hydropolypes and algae from the lower tidal zone, in the Atlantic (also on the coasts of Canada and the USA to Massachusetts ), in the English Channel and in the North Sea ( Heligoland ).
food
The food source of this snail is made up of stock-forming hydroid polyps , mainly the polyps of Eudendrium arbuscula and other Eudendrium species are grazed.
