Military Order of Carl

The Military Carls Order was donated by Duke Carl Eugen von Württemberg on February 11, 1759 as an Order of Military Merit as a reward for outstanding achievements by officers in the Seven Years War .

While still elector, the later King Friedrich I of Württemberg renewed the order in four classes on November 6, 1799 and in 1806 gave it the current name of the Military Order of Merit .
