Military Service Award (Liechtenstein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The military service award was donated on August 17, 1847 by Prince Alois II von und zu Liechtenstein and awarded to non-commissioned officers and men of the armed forces of the Principality for honorable service in three classes.

  • First class for twenty years of military service
  • Second class for fifteen years of military service
  • III. Class for ten years of military service

The award is a rectangular clasp made of metal, the first class gold-plated , the second class silver-plated and the III. Class is painted black. It shows the crowned coat of arms of Liechtenstein in the middle on a grained ground. On the right the initial of the founder A (Alois) and on the left the Roman numerals XX , XV or X corresponding to the years of service.

When Prince Johann II took office in 1858, the monogram changed from A to J (Johann). The clasp was worn on a red ribbon with white stripes on the left side of the chest. With the abolition of compulsory military service in 1868, the award was no longer awarded.
