The Millennium Chemicals Inc. , a subsidiary of Lyondell Chemical Company , is an American chemical company. It was temporarily the second largest producer of titanium dioxide in the world.
history
Millennium Chemicals was created as an independent company through the spin-off of a division of Hanson plc on October 1, 1996.
In 2004, Millennium Chemicals and Lyondell merged (approval by the EU on June 10, 2004, final takeover on November 30, 2004), making them the third largest American chemical company at the time.
In 2007, the titanium dioxide division was sold to the Saudi National Titanium Dioxide Company for US $ 1.2 billion , creating the Cristal Global concern.
