Millwall Bushwackers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Millwall Bushwackers are a Millwall FC fan group that was founded in the early 1980s. They belong to the hooligan movement in English football and are known nationally for their violence . The name of the fan group refers to the Bushwhackers , a paramilitary group that fought on the Confederation side during the American Civil War.

A Millwall Brick

The Bushwackers came into being at the height of the hooligan movement . Their main goal is to cause disruption and disputes with opposing fans during their team's football matches. In doing so, they often use force. The Bushwhackers developed the Millwall Brick , an improvised newsprint weapon that was folded to the hardness of a baseball bat . Her battle song is No One Likes Us, We Don't Care ( German : “Nobody likes us, we don't give a shit”).

Since the 1980s, the group has decreased in number. This is in part due to the initiative of fans surrounding former Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis. After the clashes outside the New Den in the course of a relegation semi-final game of the Football League First Division 2001/02 against Birmingham City , which claimed many injuries, these fans excluded the Bushwackers .
