Facial expression recognition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A person's facial expressions are recognized correctly: The person smiles.

As a research area, automatic facial expression recognition represents a sub-area of artificial intelligence and image understanding . Its aim is to develop processes that enable computer programs to interpret the facial expressions of visible people using cameras . The greatest challenges are to suppress the complex environmental conditions that occur during recordings and to correctly interpret the marginal muscle movements in the face that make up human facial expressions. Often even people are not sure about their counterparts' facial expressions.

purpose

With the help of the knowledge about facial expressions, conclusions can be drawn about the current emotion of the user. For example, people react angrily to repeated questions to confirm the deletion of a file . This helps the computer to better adjust to humans.
