Mincivan or Mindschiwan ( Armenian Միջնավան , Midschnawan ; also Mijnavan ) is a city in the Zəngilan district in Azerbaijan . It lies in the internationally unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh , in which it is administered by the province of Kashatach . According to Nagorno-Karabakh, the place had around 300 inhabitants in 2015.

The place on the river Voghdschi near its confluence with the Macaws had grown to a city with 5500 inhabitants by the end of the Soviet Union. Because of the location in the Azerbaijani strip of land between Armenia , Iran and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, which was declared independent in 1991, it was occupied by Armenian-Karabakh units in 1993 in the Nagorno -Karabakh conflict, which escalated into war, and has been occupied since then. The Azerbaijani residents fled.
