Mindrot was an American death doom band from Westminster in Orange County , California .

The band released their three demos as MC , the two 7 "singles on the band's own label Tempest Records. The subsequent three recordings were released on the US label Relapse Records ; the debut album Dawning was also available in Europe thanks to a distribution deal with Nuclear Blast .

Bernd Granz considered the first official sign of life, the single Endeavor , to be very special in Rock Hard , because “[n] ach industrial intro” hammered the piece “in hellish fashion, then abruptly slowed down the whole Mindrot” -Power to demonstrate ". In the fanzine Metalspheres the stylistic range of Dawning was emphasized, which makes a categorization impossible. The range extends from a “calm, gothic instrumental” at the beginning to “angry death metal song with a hardcore touch” and a “doomy-sluggish epic” to songs that poach in “death metal and grindcore realms” (sic! ).

The second work Soul was released with three years of latency , also via Relapse Records. Shortly thereafter, the band broke up: first drummer Evan Kilbourne switched to Save Ferris , then John Flood and Adrian Leroux left the band due to their instability or disbanded it.
