Miniature Tigers is an indie rock band from Brooklyn , New York City . It combines elements of indie rock, synthpop and dream pop . The band consists of singer and guitarist Charlie Brand, Rick Schaier on drums and backing vocals and Algernon Quashie on second guitar and keyboard.

The band is currently under contract with Modern Art Records.

history

Miniature Tigers started their first national tour in October 2008 with an appearance at the 2008 CMJ Music Marathon. They toured with Ben Folds in February 2009 and played at the 2009 Monolith Festival in September. They also played as an opening act for Fun. on their tour for the album Some Nights .

In December 2006 the Rolling Stone Miniature Tigers was one of the "one of the 25 best bands on Myspace ." The band also received positive reviews from Spin magazine , which put Miniature Tigers in "The 9 Hottest New Bands Playing CMJ 2008". Death + Taxes , a music magazine, awarded the Black Magic and White Magic EPs 4 stars and called the band "terribly endearing" (terribly endearing).

The music video for Cannibal Queen was used in mtvU and MTV2's Subterranean.
