ministeck is a system toy for the creation of mosaic images , the parts from plastic in the thermoplastic injection molding process are high. In addition to its classic use as a children's toy, Ministeck has also been used in the fine arts (e.g. at Friederike & Uwe ) since the 2000s .

Manufacturer

ministeck was founded in 1965 by Helmut Gottwald's company. By 1997 he acquired all the patents that guaranteed him his monopoly on this market. In 1998 he founded ministeck GmbH in Nuremberg. Feuchtmann took over the brand in February 2017.

functionality

The different colored mosaic pieces have pins on their back, with which they are attached to appropriately perforated plastic plates. As a rule, the base plate is fully equipped, but sometimes the white base plate is used as a background and only the motif and important background elements are inserted.

For complete sets, a template is supplied that shows the shape, color and position of the mosaic parts. Base plate and mosaic parts are supplied in the required shape and number. Templates, mosaic pieces and base plates can also be purchased separately.

The manufacturer regularly brings out new templates (with motifs such as still lifes , copies of well-known paintings, portraits of important people or vehicles ). You can also use templates from competitors (e.g. Prestofix), convert digital images into templates using special programs, or you can also insert pictures freehand.

Shape of parts

Ministeck standard strips

The shape of the mosaic parts is standardized according to the holes on the floor panels. The mosaic parts are still delivered on the cast branch. A standard strip contains:

  • 2 one stones
  • 16 double stones
  • 12 elongated tripartite stones
  • 4 angled tripartite stones
  • 8 square four stones

There are also strips with 20 one-stones. The base square of the Einserstein has an edge length of around 3 mm.

Colors of the parts

The mosaic parts are currently made in over thirty colors . In recent years some special colors (mostly metallic colors) have been developed, the mosaic parts in these colors are more expensive than the standard colors. The colors have a code number in the form of a five-digit number and a capital letter, the special colors are only identified by the number.
