Ministry of Religious Foundations and Affairs (Oman)

The Ministry of Religious Foundations and Affairs ( Arabic وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الدينية, DMG Wizārat al-Auqāf wa-š-Šuʾūn ad-Dīnīya ; engl. Ministry of Endowments & Religious Affairs ; Abbreviation MARA ) of the Sultanate of Oman is the government agency in Oman responsible for the supervision and regulation of all matters relating to religious foundations ( waqf ) and religious affairs. Its seat is in the capital Muscat .

It has existed under its current name since 1997, before it was associated with the country's Ministry of Justice. The Minister for Religious Foundations and Religious Affairs is Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Salmi .

The ministry published monographs on the Ibadis and Oman, from 2003 to 2010 the 'Islamic culture magazine' al-Tafahom (understanding) and from 2011 to 2014 also its successor al-Tasamoh (tolerance).
