The farmers ' and Workers' Party of Minnesota (English Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesota ) was a political party in the United States of America . Its geographic base was the state of Minnesota , but it achieved political successes in other states as well. The party was founded in 1918 and existed until 1944, when it merged with the Democratic Party of Minnesota to form what is now the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party .

In the 1920s and particularly in the 1930s, the party achieved some successes in Minnesota: It was able to provide four US Senators and from 1931 to 1939 members of the Peasants 'and Workers' Party held the office of governor . The party program was moderate by European standards. It called for the nationalization of key industries , social legislation and protective measures for the peasant class.

The Minnesota Democratic Party achieved the merger of the two parties on April 15, 1944, under the leadership of Hubert H. Humphrey .
