Minttu

Minttu is the name of a liqueur from Finland .

Along with Lakka, Minttu is one of the most famous spirits from Finland. It is a peppermint schnapps that was launched on the market in 1979 and is available with 40% and 50% alcohol (only for export). Minttu is produced in Turku by V&S Finland , a subsidiary of the V&S Group .

Minttu was the world's first pure peppermint schnapps. The taste is minty-sweet. Since 2007, new, flavored variants have been introduced that have a reduced alcohol content of 35%. The liqueur schnapps is often served chilled as a shot . To do this, it is placed in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator, where it becomes thicker and small pieces of ice form. In Finland it is often consumed together with hot or cold drinking chocolate .
