Sucius' pictures are kept in a strong light-dark contrast, some of his works are monochrome. He mainly paints oil or draws with charcoal.

Motifically, he deals with internal conflicts of individual figures or groups. Time and space are difficult to classify in his pictures. He is fascinated by absurd actions; in his pictures he explores not only human weaknesses but also existential problems by referring to the psychological level behind the visible. Some of his motives are sociopolitical: Suciu is interested in how the individual loses his own identity in the midst of the masses.

After designing his works, he partially damages and restores their surfaces in order to make the works look more worn.

In his last exhibition Ship of Fools (April to June 2016 in Antwerp), Suciu dealt thematically with the fear of today's uncertain world, in particular the fear of disasters, wars, nationalism, religious fundamentalism and also of migrants.

Sucius' oeuvre is similar in some respects to that of René Magritte , but is much darker.

Mircea Suciu himself says of his style: "I believe that the dark atmosphere of my drawings comes from the love for certain classical artist like Caravaggio , Rembrandt , Goya . I believe that in most of my drawings I make studies of light, in the traditional way of " chiaroscuro ". I also believe that art is dramatic, and therefore I need this way of representation in order to be more persuasive. "
