The Neumayer steep face consists of a series of steep cliffs in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . It forms the northeastern end of the Kirwanveggen in Maudheimvidda . The Årmålsryggen mountain range rises up at the western end of the Neumayer steep face .
It was discovered and named during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . It is named after the geophysicist and polar researcher Georg von Neumayer (1826–1909). Participants in the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) carried out a mapping.
