The Kirwanveggen ( Norwegian for Kirwanwand ; English Kirwan Escarpment ) is a striking terrain step of 144 km in length with northwest orientation in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies south of the Penck Mulde and is characterized by cliffs and rocky outcrops, interspersed with glaciers and steep ice slopes. The northern end of the terrain is shaped by the Neumayer steep wall.

The first aerial photographs of the formation were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939). Norwegian cartographers mapped them using surveys and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). It is named after Archibald Laurence Patrick Kirwan (1907–1999), President and Secretary of the Royal Geographical Society from 1945 to 1975.
