The Mirfak nunatak is a nunatak near the polar plateau in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises 10 miles southwest of Vance Bluff .

The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1965 after the USNS Mirfak , a transport ship that had been used for trips to McMurdo Station in Operation Deep Freeze in 1963 .
