Miriam Cruz
Miriam Aracelis Cruz Ramírez (born August 17, 1968 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican merengue singer.
Cruz began her professional career in 1982 as a member of the Las Chicas del Can group founded by Wilfrido Vargas , of which she was a member until 1992. After the departure of Belkis Concepción , she became the solo singer of the group in 1985, with which she released an album every year. In 1993 she began a solo career with the album Nueva Vida , which was a huge success with hit singles such as Tómalo Tú (by Frantoni Santana ), La Loba (by Ramón Orlando ) and Te Propongo (by Juan Luis Guerra ).
She then undertook concert tours with her own orchestra as Miriam Cruz y las Chicas through Venezuela, Colombia, Perú, Puerto Rico, the USA and Europe and had another hit at the organización de Televisión Iberoamericana singing festival in Valencia with Manuel Jiménez ' Agua de Sal .
For the next ten years, Cruz played the title role in Amaury Sánchez 's production of the musical Evita . Her second solo album, Punto y Aparte , was released by Sony Music in 2001 and was only a moderate success compared to the first. The albums Aquí Estoy (2006) and Siempre Diva (2012) followed.
