Mirza Dinnayi

Mirza Hasan Dinnayi ( Arabic ميرزا ​​حسن دنايي, DMG Mīrzā Ḥasan Dinnāyī ) is an Iraqi writer of Yezidi origin and Yazidi expert and recipient of the “Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity” 2019.

Life

Dinnayi worked as an advisor to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and as a government commissioner for minority issues and rights in Iraq. He is the coordinator of the Yezidi Democratic Community in Germany and the head of the Qendil publishing house and information center, which publishes various homepages and publications, especially on the topics of minorities in the Middle East, integration and human rights. Since 2011 he has been an advisor to the government of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region and a member of the General Board for Disputed Areas in the Council of Ministers.

Humanitarian engagement

After the terrorist attacks in the Sinjar region , he and Michael Clasen, editor of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) founded the humanitarian campaign “Airlift Iraq” in September 2007 to treat Iraqi war-wounded children and victims of terrorism in Germany. The Iraqi Airlift works closely with the Franziskus Hospital Harderberg ( Georgsmarienhütte ) and other hospitals in the Lower Saxony area.

He is the chairman of the humanitarian aid organization Luftbrücke Irak eV

Honors

In April 2016 he became the Prime Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg with the Staufermedaille honored Award for his humanitarian efforts.

On October 19, 2019, he was awarded the Aurora Prize for Promoting Humanity .
