In a mixed conductor , also called Mixed Ion-Electron Conductor (or MIEC for short), the electrical conductivity is based on both electron conduction and ion conduction .

Examples are solid electrolytes with electronic conductivity, as they are investigated in solid-state ionics .

Mixed conductors are, for example, strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ), titanium (IV) oxide (TiO 2 ), cerium (IV) oxide (CeO 2 ), lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4 ) and LiMnPO 4 .
