With one leg in the grave , a German satirical television series starring Heinz Schubert , who has become known as Disgust Alfred . In it Schubert played a porter who was involuntarily sent into early retirement. The series was produced between 1996 and 1997 and consisted of 13 episodes.

The series is an adaptation of the BBC series One Foot in the Grave . Around 25 years after their hit series Ein Herz und ein Seele (A Heart and a Soul) , the author Quantity and Heinz Schubert worked together again in a film. Udo Lindenberg's “Wenn ich 64 bin”, the modification of the Beatles classic “ When I'm 64 ”, served as the theme music. The series ran in one season and was broadcast on ARD every Tuesday at 10:05 p.m.

Viktor Bölkoff works as a doorman, but since the company has to cut jobs, he is retired early and a newfangled robot is put in his position. This new situation, for which Bölkoff was not so prepared, initially presented him and his wife with new challenges. He makes himself comfortable, watches TV or talks to his goldfish. Her neighbors are Lisbeth Albermann, Margret's girlfriend, and Klaus and Katrin. Bölkoff is invited to a senior afternoon by Markus, who is doing community service, which he doesn't particularly like because he doesn't want to be part of the old iron yet. A call from the HR department of his old company gives him hope for a comeback, but it turns out differently than hoped. The lovable, sometimes nagging philistine Bölkoff, who likes neither dogs nor small children, tries to make the best of his situation.
