Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. ( Japanese 三井 住友 海上 火災 保 険 株式会社 , Mitsui Sumitomo Kaijō Kasai Hoken Kabushiki kaisha ) is a Japanese insurance company . The largest shareholders, each with over four percent of the shares, are the Master Trust Bank of Japan ( Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group ) and the Japan Trustee Services Bank ( Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group ).

The company was founded in 2000 as a result of the merger of the two equal partners The Sumitomo Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. founded. The company is traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the symbol 8752.
The Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group merged with the insurance companies Aioi Insurance Co. Ltd. in 2008. and Nissay Dowa General Insurance Co. Ltd. the MS & AD Insurance Group .
