Mitsuru Kotani

Mitsuru Kotani (* Jap. 小谷充 , Kotani Mitsuru * 18th June 1945 in the prefecture of Hyogo , † 24. November 1990 ) was a Japanese jazz pianist , the mainly as a composer and arranger of pop and light music -operated, but also wrote film music .

Mitsuru Kotani worked in the Japanese music scene from the mid-1960s; from 1968 he arranged and composed for the pop duo Jun & Nene, the folk duos Billy BanBan and Betsy & Chris as well as for the singers Akira Fuse , Mie Nakao , Keiko Fuji , Akiko Wada , Teresa Teng and Katsuko Kanai ( My True Heart / My Lonely Devil , Columbia). He also provided the arrangement for the album Drumming Beat Pops Vol. 2 (1969) by Motohiko Hino . In 1976 Kotani and his band Orient Locomotion presented the album Nihon no Shirabe (Wagakki to Rock no Yūgō) ( 日本 の 調 べ < 和 楽 器 と ロ ッ ク の 融合 > , Beloved Japanese Melodies ); on Philips the most appeared Easy Listening oriented LP Mitsuru Kotani & The Bossa Nova Fleshmen: Bossa Nova de Tokyo . He wrote u. a. the title "The Ballad of Rainbow and Snow". Kotani also worked as a film composer for the television series Karate baka ichidai (1973/74).
