The messages of the Canal-Verein (abbreviated MCV ) were a German historical journal that was published by Canal-Verein .
In the statutes of the association "the publication of a scientific series - communication of the Canal Association " was named as one of the means by which the association's purpose of "promoting local history through the research and dissemination of knowledge about the planning, development and function of Schleswig - Holstein canals and waterways as well as the maritime problems of the Baltic and North Sea world in the past and present ”. The focus within this broad framework of construction, technology, transport and national history was in particular the history of the Eider Canal .
The magazine appeared predominantly in a fixed annual cycle, interrupted by a few double volumes, which were last only counted once, so that in 39 years a total of 27 issues (31 volumes) have appeared. The editors were Ernst Joachim Fürsen (volumes 1–16), Manfred Jessen-Klingenberg (volumes 1–10, 18–28), Carsten Müller-Boysen (volumes 11–17), Jörn Meiners (volumes 18–25) Jürgen Rohweder (volume 26-31), Jann Markus Witt (volume 28).
In sum, the MCV contained, as was summed up after the first volumes, "a wealth of new and important information on the history of the Schleswig-Holstein canals", they soon found "their permanent place among the Perodica for the Schleswig-Holstein national history."
