Ernst Joachim Fürsen
Ernst Joachim Fürsen (born February 16, 1942 in Stettin ) is a German lawyer and notary . From 1980 to 2016 he was Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Rendsburg .
Life
Fürsen studied in Kiel, Lausanne, Montpellier, Tübingen and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in 1973 from the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1980 he became Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Rendsburg, an office that several generations of his family had held since 1853.
In addition to his work as a lawyer and notary, he published numerous amounts on Schleswig-Holstein's history, including personal entries for the SHBL . In particular, he was the initiator, founder and from 1980 to 1994 chairman of the Canal Association. In this function he achieved that its importance for the economic and cultural history of the country came into the public consciousness. This was achieved through the scientific journal Mitteilungen of the Canal Association , of which Fürsen was co-editor, as well as through the successful initiative to restore the preserved locks of the Eider Canal .
