Mittelmühle is a district of the municipality of Reuth near Erbendorf in the Tirschenreuth district in Bavaria and is located between the Steinwald Nature Park , the Waldnaab Valley and the Muckental / Stiftland .

history

The desert was first mentioned in a document in 1409 in a fiefdom letter from Count Palatine Johann dem Amberger. In 1720 it came into the possession of the Lang family through marriage, whose descendants still live on the Mittelmühle. Different generations gradually expanded the Mittelmühle so that what was a rather small property became one of the largest farms in the area. In addition to the mill, they also ran agriculture. The pond was created around 1780, mainly to better regulate the water for the mill. In 1858 Michael Lang built a sawmill next to the mill. He had only received the concession for this after years of litigation. It was also Michael Lang, from whose corpulence the house name "Mühldick" originates, which is still in use. In 1865, after the Hammergut Erlhammer had been destroyed, Michael Lang acquired a small chapel which he had rebuilt at the Mittelmühle. Between 1965 and 1972 the sawmill, the mill and the farm were gradually shut down. In 1973 the current owners converted the mill into a small guesthouse with 23 beds, with a focus on family and fishing holidays. Up until the end of the 1990s there was also a small horse breeding facility with an offer for riding holidays.

Since 2020, after the renovation, the Mittelmühle has been used by the new owners as a yoga retreat and seminar house.
