Middle School Olching

The Olching Middle School , also called Amperschule, is Olching's ( Fürstenfeldbruck district ) only middle school . Since the completion of the new building in 2014, it has been in the immediate vicinity of the Olching grammar school . Before that, it was located in a building complex on Heckenstrasse, which still houses the Olching indoor swimming pool to this day.

In 2006, fire protection deficiencies were found in the building on Heckenstrasse, which had to be responded to. The plans for a new building were selected in 2009 as part of an architecture competition. In spring 2011 u. a. Olching's third mayor, Bernhard Nickel, (again) initiated a discussion about whether renovating the school building would be cheaper than building a new one. He therefore recommended that the architects' plans, which were already available at this time, only be implemented at a later point in time. According to the city of Olching, however, the new building was the more economical alternative to renovation.

The costs totaled around € 20 million, of which around € 11 million went to the school and around € 9 million to the multi-gym.

The groundbreaking for the new building on Georgenstrasse was on August 20, 2012. After around two years of construction, the building complex was completed in mid-2014.

Youth Social Work

Discourse on violence at school

The school gained national notoriety in a negative sense in March 2018. At that time, individual parents and the parents' council raised allegations of violence at the school. These allegations were discussed in various local and national media. The education authority classifies the allegations as disproportionate. Nevertheless, a conflict resolution team should subsequently be deployed.

A direct connection with the hiring of a youth social worker who has been working at the school since September 2018 cannot be established.

Extent of youth social work

According to the information on the school website, the youth social worker offers advice and help for students, parents and teachers. The scope of their activities extends to the following areas:

  • Advice and support for students in the context of individual assistance
  • socio-educational group work
  • Crisis intervention
  • Parental work
  • Cooperation with school management and teachers, e.g. B. with difficult disciplinary decisions
  • Improvement of the social climate within the school and improved cooperation between all those involved
  • Project work (addiction and violence prevention, conflict resolution, integration, reduction of aggression)
  • Stabilization of class groups
  • Reduction of negative school careers without qualifications
