The Olching high school, which is sponsored by the Fürstenfeldbruck district, is a scientific-technological, linguistic, economic and social science high school in the city of Olching. With almost 1000 students and more than 100 teachers, it is the only grammar school in the city located in the western outskirts of Munich. Since September 2009, the grammar school has been a seminar school where teachers are trained in study seminars.

history

Because of the rapid population increase in the eastern municipalities of the Fürstenfeldbruck district , another grammar school was necessary at the end of the 1960s. Therefore, at the end of 1968, the "Friends of the Olching High School" was founded . A special purpose association of the municipalities of Esting, Geiselbullach , Groebenzell and Olching was added. Under the first chairman, the mayor of Olching Franz Haidacher, the 30,000 m² school property was bought on April 23, 1970 in Schwaigfeld. From September 1971, the founding director Karl Stegherr began building the grammar school in the free classrooms of the old girls' school, where the first classes were housed. In the school year 72/73 there were already 369 students. The new building in Schwaigfeld could only be moved into after the Easter break in 1974, and on June 29, 1974 the Olching grammar school was inaugurated. Since the planned capacity of 1000 students was soon exceeded, an extension of 10 rooms and a few side rooms took place in 1977/78.

On June 27, 1980, the first high school graduates were able to receive their diplomas. In that school year, the number of pupils had reached 1,532. From autumn 1981 there was a significant relief because the “ Progymnasium ” began in Gröbenzell , which was then expanded into a grammar school. In the almost 40 years of its existence, the Olching high school has become the most important educational institution in the city of Olching. The high school takes part in the MODUS F pilot project .

In 2011, a group of teachers at the grammar school was awarded the German Teacher's Prize for their weekly plan work project in the 5th grade .

In November 2015, 12 teachers from the natural sciences received the German Teacher Award for the project The Brain of Olching , in which students compete against each other in a show based on the casting show The Voice of Germany with self-developed scientific projects. They are evaluated by a jury consisting of six teachers.

René Horak has been the head of the high school since the 2016/2017 school year.
