Wednesday association "Schlüssel" in Weimar

The Wednesday association “Schlüssel” zu Weimar was founded in a constituent meeting on October 7, 1847. According to its statutes, it was "an association for regular sociable scientific associations". A key was chosen as a symbol at the second meeting of the association on November 17, 1847, which is today with the association's archive in the Thuringian main state archive in Weimar . The meeting place was initially the Russian court in Weimar , a move to the Weimar town hall took place in 1850. The last meeting of the association took place on March 24, 1945; The protocol ends with a reference to the Allies' ban on assembly.

Lectures

The central element of the club's life were the regular lectures on a wide variety of topics from all scientific disciplines, and issues of daily politics were also dealt with. The lectures were characterized above all by a wide variety of topics, the respective speakers should also deal with topics beyond their everyday activities. Twelve lectures were given before the association was officially founded.
