Teru Miyamoto

Teru Miyamoto ( Japanese 宮本 輝 , Miyamoto Teru ; born March 6, 1947 in Kobe ) is a Japanese writer.

Miyamoto studied at the private university Ōtemon Gakuin Daigaku and then worked as a copywriter for the advertising agency Sankei . After a nervous breakdown in his mid-twenties, he turned to writing. For Doro no kawa he received the Dazai Osamu Prize in 1977 and the Akutagawa Prize for Hotarugawa the following year . His novel Yu-Shun (1987) was awarded the Yoshikawa Eiji Prize . All three works as well as several later novels were filmed.
