Mizeria
Mizeria is from the Polish cuisine originating cucumber salad , which is traditionally served with meat dishes and fish. The name is probably based on the French word misère (distress, misery), which should express a certain ironic condescension that was once brought to this simple food by the Polish nobility .
Is prepared Mizeria of finely grated or rarely of sliced and chopped cucumbers, seasoned with salt, pepper, sugar and possibly nutmeg and then with sour cream ( kwaśna śmietana are served) and yogurt or kefir. In another variant, the cucumber slices are blanched , salted and then placed in a marinade made from vinegar, pepper, sugar and cloves.
Often, for refinement, dill is also added to the mizeria, more rarely chives or parsley.
