Interviewing witnesses during a mock trial

So far, mock trials are mainly simulated, fictitious legal proceedings in the Anglo-Saxon-speaking area for teaching or training purposes, which should correspond as closely as possible to a real situation, including indictment , defense , pleadings , lawyers , judges , witness interviews , expert opinions and judgment .

Mock trials take place in the USA at many levels of education, often in a competitive manner (e.g. elementary school , middle school , high school , university , law faculty ), whereby practical relevance, practice and understanding of procedural problems and the acquisition of basic skills for the later professional practice are in the foreground.

Some companies also use simulated legal proceedings to prepare their managers for real legal proceedings. In the context of the legal proceedings against the heirs of the Kirch Group, Deutsche Bank is supposed to appoint the then manager Rolf-E. Breuer prepared accordingly.
